Lubbock, Texas is home to a very iconic comic shop.

Iconic Lubbock Businesses

Lubbock has some businesses that are just iconic. I guess one of the best examples would be Ralph's Records, even though the original location closed long ago. The 50th Street Caboose is another great example, even though it was a spin off of the Original Copper Caboose that was over by Texas Tech. Also making the list would have to be Star Comics. Star Comics has been at it since 1977, and they also moved thier location, but still stayed on 34th street.

Lubbock Celebrates Superman

Coming up tomorrow, Friday April 18th would be a good time to pop your head in at Star Comics because it's "Superman Day".  Superman Day is celebrated every year on this day as a nod to Superman's first appearance in Action Comics in 1938. This has been disputed a bit, because June 12th was once designated Superman Day to celebrate the release of a Superman movie.

Star Comics Celebrates Superheroes

Star Comics, like many comic book stores across the nation will celebrate with some exclusive Superman comic variants and maybe a surprise or two. It's really just a great tip of the hat to the superhero genre and comic books in general.  Star is also peeking thier head around the corner to Free Comic Book Day on May 12th, which will also feature freebies every Wednesday and Saturday all month long. One note, the Wednesdays are reserved for more mature stuff.
