Summer without public pools in a city with nearly 270,000 people is essentially unheard of, but that's the situation in Lubbock, Texas. It's pretty terrible.
When I was a kid, there were tons of swimming holes to choose from. My mom found us somewhere to go nearly every single day to get us out of her hair. Parents are frustrated right now. There's nowhere in town to take their kids to cool off on a hot summer day, and no place to throw summer birthday parties by the pool. Ugh.
But, guess what?...
You just may be able to find a pool to rent with a new app I found!
Book A Pool
There's an app called Swimply where you can rent someone's private pool by the hour, and the deals are VERY reasonable. It also looks like people have had great experiences with the service. There are over 4 million 5-star reviews for people who have utilized the app to rent a place to swim.

The Downside
Right now, on Swimply, there are 5 pools available to rent in the Lubbock area with prices ranging from $25 to $60 per hour. I know. That's not very many pools, huh? But hey, that's the point of this article! We gotta tell the masses! It's time to rent your pool out to your fellow man in Lubbock!
Make a little extra cash this summer and list your pool! I already messaged my folks and told them they should throw theirs on the list for a few extra bucks. Fingers crossed they don't make me pay to book it...
