A recent analysis by LawnStarter has revealed that Texas is a very friendly place- for remote workers especially, based on metrics such as, "internet quality, cost of living, and access to coworking spaces" in addition to other factors like financial incentives provided by state and local governments.

Texas cities Plano and Frisco took the #1 and #2 ranks, respectively. Out of the 200 cities ranked, Texas had a whopping 1/8th of the entire list, with 12 cities in the top 50.

Why is Texas so desirable for remote workers?

No state income tax, for one. That metric gave Texas a big boost.

Other metrics like affordable cost-of-living, amenities, good internet connection, safety, and potential earnings all helped Texas take top honors as well.

These things are all quantifiable, but what about more "soft" reasons to call Texas your home- if you work from home? It's subjective of course, and I am horribly biased, but I truly feel that Texas has plenty to offer in that department too.

Y'all Means All

Texans tend to be very, if not overly, friendly people. We hold ourselves to high standards of politeness, to the point that I find myself taken aback if the person in front of me doesn't hold the door open. Most people I know lay on the "pleases" and "thank yous" heavily, and tend to use affectionate nicknames for folks. I definitely do that- most of the people in my life are darlings, sugars, sweeties, and whatever else comes to mind.

Texas is also a huge state- with different landscapes and microcultures depending on where you are- the relaxed feel of the rolling hills of Central Texas, the beach life of the coast, or the sublime beauty of the West Texas prairie that I'm proud to call home.

It's a melting pot, to be sure, with a rich and deep history. Transplants are welcome- just keep it friendly, y'all.
