
Lubbock’s Alamo Drafthouse Rumored to Undergo Major Changes
Normally, I would never write an article about a rumor unless I heard about it from multiple sources and/or it was extremely hilarious.
The rumored huge change for Lubbock's Alamo Drafthouse is from the former category. I heard it from three separate sources (including Lubbock In the Loop); however, Lubbock loves to talk, so I must emphasize that this is currently just a rumor.

It is rumored that Lubbock's Alamo Drafthouse will no longer be an Alamo, and soon.

The rumor is that new owners have purchased it and will convert it into a Flix Brewhouse. Flix Brewhouses are pretty similar in vibe to an Alamo Drafthouse.
How Is Flix Brewhouse Different From Alamo Drafthouse?
The major difference is that Flix Brewhouse has an on-site brewery (thus the name).
I have also seen people say that the seating is more comfortable at Flix Brewhouse; however, it would remain to be seen if the seats would be renovated if this rumored purchase is true.
How Is Flix Brewhouse Like Alamo Drafthouse?
Looking at the Flix Brewhouse website, I can see that there are special screenings of older movies, some interactive events, and some collectables given away with certain screenings. So, all the good stuff you'd get at an Alamo.

The menu also appears similar, with offerings from hamburgers to Asian food, and it appears they have all day breakfast (yum!). Look at the chicken and waffles!
Lubbock getting an Alamo Drafthouse was a big deal. It's a cultural gemstone and a precious amenity. However, if this change is real, I'm looking forward to trying a Flix brew, alongside that incredibly tempting waffle, of course.
