Texas Tech Stadium Shines Green For Mental Health Awareness
The home of the Red Raiders was lit up green Wednesday night for a special cause. The event was part of a nationwide movement to bring awareness to mental health issues.
Jones AT&T Stadium is the home of the Red & Black. Those colors are so identified with the Red Raiders that when Patrick Mahomes released uniforms with a large amount of gray in them, it was very off-putting for some people.
One color you don't get in the red/black pallet is green. In fact, green isn't really welcome around here mostly due to a rival with the Baylor Bears. It's just in our bones as Red Raider fans to avoid any green outside of the Astroturf.

All best were off Wednesday night in Lubbock with the stadium was lit up for Mental Health Awareness. It was very special that this was done before the students left and/or graduated for the year.
Texas Tech Athletics Supports Mental Health with Green Stadium Lighting
The effort was led by Dr. Nick Harpster and The HSI Initiatives Division of Campus Access & Engagement, with a lot of help from Texas Tech Athletics. Nationwide about 150 building participated in lighting up buildings green.
The simple act of lighting things up green for one night can make a big difference. All parties should be congratulated for making this happen. Sometimes it can be absolutely lifesaving for some people to know you recognize their struggle.
I hope that this event is put on an annual calendar for these organizations and the University. Let's watch this movement grow, and pick up some personal green lightbulbs for next year.
