Texas should make National Corn Dog Day a state holiday.

Texas Debuted Corndogs At A State Fair

The history of corndogs is a little crazy. Corn Dogs became a "thing" after debuting at the Texas State Fair in 1942. But did Texas originate the corn dog? At least two places claim to have been serving corn dogs in 1941. Let's just give a big "thank you" to all for this golden fried goodness of a breaded wiener on a stick.

Where To Get Corn Dogs

Corn dogs in Texas mean one of two things, either the fair is in town, or Sonic. Sonic Drive-In's have been rockin' corn dogs and corn dog specials since 1959 (at least). Yes, I unearthed Sonic's first menu and it has "Corn Dog On A Stick" for a whopping 25 cents.

This Saturday is "National Corn Dog Day" and of course Sonic is celebrating. This Saturday it's 99 cent corn dogs with no limit. When was the last time you had a meal for just a buck or two?  You can change that this Saturday at participating Sonic's (and most, if not all, are).

Corn Dog Crazy

I have more than taken advantage of this situation, eating seven corn dogs at one sitting. I did not regret this decision but I felt like if I had went to eight, I would have. I'd also like to remind you that you can freeze corn dogs and pop them back into your air fryer when you're ready. One more thing, we love to split them open and cover them with chili and cheese!

Most Remaining Fuddruckers Are In Texas, Here's Where To Find Them

Fuddruckers began in San Antonio in 1979. At its height in the late 90s, there were 150 Fuddruckers locations. Now only 54 remain, with 6 of those in the dubious state of "temporarily" closed.
