Davis Martin came to Texas Tech and showed almost immediately how great he can be. He took two excellent breaking balls and a lively fastball and absolutely ran roughshod through the Big 12 and led Texas Tech to it's first ever win in the College World Series against Florida.

Martin would finish his freshman campaign with a 10-1 record in 14 starts with five relief appearances and two saves. He had a 2.52 ERA  in 89 innings pitched with 61 strikeouts.

His sophomore season was riddled with a shoulder injury that limited him to 44 innings.

Davis would come back his Junior year trying to regain his confidence on the mound and toward the end of the year you could see Martin regaining his command and getting back to what made him so good as a freshman. In Less innings as a Junior Martin threw 20 more strikeouts and had a 7-6 record in 17 starts.

The White Sox saw his potential drafting him in the 14th round and signing him to a deal just hours before the deadline.

Davis Martin would make his announcement via twitter.com with a heartfelt letter thanking the fans, his family, coaches and teammates for everything in the last three years.

The good news for Davis Martin is that the White Sox minor league system is lack luster so there will be plenty of room for advancement at an above average pace if Martin can continue to pitch like he was at the end of the year. His slider and change up will also play very well at the Major League level if and when he gets his shot.

Best of luck to Davis Martin who was a huge part to two runs to Omaha for Texas Tech and the Red Raider Baseball team.
