Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show, Chad talked about Lubbock's recent storm water rate increase that has been in the news lately. The subject generated many calls from citizens, with many of them quite upset with the major increase in what amounts to much higher taxes being paid, especially by businesses covering large tracts of land.

More than one call was from outside of Lubbock, and provided insight as to why some people choose to leave the city.

A caller from Liberty Hill (outside of Austin) who was comparing Lubbock fee and tax increases and spending to what has happened in years past in Austin remarked, "We'd love to come back to Lubbock and retire up here, but, heck, every time I listen to the radio, you're getting more and more like central Texas."

Mayor Glen Robertson is hosting a public meeting where citizens can offer input on the matter. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Country Club. Hasty encourages the public to attend and voice their opinions.
