Monday morning (July 3), a dead body was found in a playa lake North of the South Plains Mall in Lubbock.

On Saturday (July 1), Lubbock Police were called to 54th street and Albany Avenue for reports of a vehicle in the water. When an officer arrived on scene, he saw a vehicle in the lake and tried to swim out to the vehicle. By the time the officer reached the vehicle, it was fully submerged.

Due to storms Saturday morning, the search was postponed.

Police attempted to contact the owner of the vehicle after it was pulled from the lake, but they were unable to do so.

On Monday (July 3), police were called for the report of a dead body. When police arrived, they located the body and retrieved it from the lake.

Later on Monday, the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body as 20 year-old Francisco Juarez.
