Gas prices rose slightly in Texas and across the nation this week but only slightly, according to AAA Texas.

Drivers are paying an average of $2.23 a gallon this week for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, just one cent higher than last week. The average remains lower than this time last year by $1.25, reported AAA Texas.

Nationally drivers are paying slightly higher at $2.41 a gallon, again an increase of one cent from last week.

Doug Shupe of AAA Texas said the decrease from last year equates to a savings of around $17.50 per tank for the average driver.

Many vendors in Lubbock had unleaded gasoline priced as low as $2.20 a gallon on Thursday.
