Area veterans will be honored at a ceremony this weekend.

Veterans buried at the City of Lubbock Cemetery will be honored as part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America ceremony.

The Lubbock Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol will honor the veterans in a ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15th at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, located at 2011 East 31st Street.

The ceremony will feature a color guard, speech, and laying of wreaths at the Veterans Memorial. Wreaths will be placed on the graves of veterans beginning at 8 a.m. by cadet members of the squadron.

More than 500 wreaths will be placed on the graves of veterans across the cemetery.

The ceremony occurs simultaneously across the USA, in other nations where there are American soldiers buried, and aboard ships at sea.
