An area organization is hosting a job fair intended for youth.

Workforce Solutions South Plains, along with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, will hold the South Plains Youth Job Fair on Thursday, March 14th.

Around 50 employers will meet with potential employees between the ages of 16 and 21 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center at 1501 Mac Davis Lane from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Workforce Solutions South Plains expects between 350 to 400 youth will attend the event.

“We lead a process by which we teach young workers the values, ethics, and principles that go with work,” said Martin Aguirre, CEO for Workforce Solutions. “We find employers that actually take on a student at this age can be that role model for the student, so that they can become instilled with those values that will serve them well into the rest of their working life.”

There is no cost for registration, and lunch will be provided for participating businesses.

Aguirre also gave advice for youth that plan to visit the job fair.
