Woman and Her 3 Children Killed in Fatigued Driver Accident
A woman and her three children are dead following a wreck in South Texas.
According to officials 22-year-old Joannie Lopez was driving the family’s SUV when she drove off U.S. 59 and hit a tree, which caused the SUV to erupt in flames.
When Emergency services arrived, Lopez, her 2-year-olds Christopher and Alonzo and her 3-year-old Andrew Lopez Jr. were all dead at the scene.
The woman’s husband survived with a broken arm and leg.
Investigators say that only Joannie was wearing a seat belt and that fatigue may have been a contributing factor to the accident.
The wreck occurred in George West, which is 60 miles northwest of Corpus Christi.
