Voter turnout this year is low, very low. Early voting is over and so far this year only 8,288 people have gone to the polls to vote in local elections. The Lubbock City Council races are competitive but for whatever reason, they aren't bringing people out to vote. Here is what the trend looks like for elections held in 2006, 2010, and this year for the number of people who voted early.

2006: 16,272

2010: 10,444

2014: 8,288
