Not all schools are the same.  So what makes them different?  On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, two guests from the Texas Classroom Teachers Association were asked what the good schools were doing that the others were not doing.

First, the response from  the association’s president  Nanette Sissney:

“A district that empowers their teachers to do what only teachers can do better than anybody else in the classroom.  So empowering  teachers is a huge thing.”

Then the response from Julia Swope, the director of membership:

“I think the most successful districts are the ones who have a very supportive school board, and who keep open communication lines.  I think that community involvement is very, very important.”
