On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, members of The West Texas Roller Dollz talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about their season opening match.

The West Texas Roller Dollz first started playing in 2007, and will be kicking off their 6th season this weekend against the Enid Roller Girls. Announcer "Tenacious C" explained the rules of a roller derby match, and added that any woman over 18 can join the team. She also discussed the argument that roller derby isn't a real sport, and said that roller derby is just as physical and competitive as any other sport out there.

The match starts at 7:00 on Saturday, March 16th at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Tickets are available through Select-A-Seat and are $10 in advance, or $12 at the door. For more information on the West Texas Roller Dollz, visit their website at westtexasrollerdollz.com.
