Monday afternoon, the St. Louis Rams announced they signed free agent wide receiver Wes Welker to a one-year contract. Welker has been a free agent since the end of the 2014 season after the Denver Broncos elected to not bring him back.

According to NFL.com, Welker could earn up to $700,000 if he hits certain bonus and incentive targets.

Welker, who played collegiately at Texas Tech, has 11 NFL seasons under his belt. The last two with the Denver Broncos and the previous six with the New England Patriots.

The former Texas Tech star is expected to receive significant playing time for the Rams with the impending four-game suspension of wide receiver Stedman Bailey.

The Rams host the Bears for a Week 10 game on Sunday.
