A person spotted walking in the road Wednesday night in Lubbock has been hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, a check welfare call was received just after 9 p.m. about a person who was walking in the road near 34th Street and Alcove. While en route, police then received a second call claiming that same person had been hit by a vehicle.

Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, police located the individual, who was then brought to University Medical Center. As of Thursday morning (Nov. 23), the person was listed in stable condition. They reportedly suffered serious injuries in the crash.

No details about the vehicle's driver were released by LPD, nor was the identity of the victim. The department's Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the incident, which has yet to be described as a hit-and-run.
