The United States Department of Agriculture has extended an emergency grazing deadline.

Lubbock County USDA Farm Service Agency Executive Director Kary Pattillo has announced that the original Conservation Reserve Program emergency grazing deadline has been extended to November 30th of this year.

Producers who take advantage of the emergency grazing extension will not incur an additional CRP rental payment reduction.

Texas CRP participants who were previously approved for managed grazing may elect to switch to emergency use by contacting the Lubbock County FSA office for approval.

“The grazing extension will provide more resources for livestock producers facing forage and feed shortages as a result of drought,” said Pattillo.

The CRP emergency haying authorization expired on August 31st, and was not extended.
