The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development is accepting applications for essential community facility project grants throughout the state after being awarded $60 million for dispersal.

Funding for essential community projects is authorized through the Community Facilities Direct and Guaranteed Loan Program, said the department. The funding is available to public bodies, community-based non-profit organizations and federally-recognized tribes. Typical expenditures include investments into schools, libraries, clinics, community centers and safety equipment.

The USDA said Community Programs can make and guarantee loans for developments in rural area and town of a population up to 20,000.
