Tuesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin the President and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Eddie McBride joined Dave and Matt to talk about what the chamber has going on, including the legislative appreciation luncheon, health benefits, the Wreck'em Tech Athletics Breakfast, the Barbecue event, and more.

Eddie started by welcoming all of the students, both returning and new, to Lubbock for the new school year, something which he is sure will lead to good business in the upcoming months. Today is the Legislative Appreciation Luncheon for Congressman Jodey Arrington. This event is a great way to tell the Congressman how important he is to West Texas, and allows him to talk about what is going on up in DC. After this, at 1:30, the chamber will be announcing the creation of an Association Health Plan to give health benefits to chamber members.

"It's going to be able to just expand beyond what we currently have and be able to be offered to folks that is going to save them money.  It's going to be able to provide them some coverages that they might not have had under the ACA, but it is something we feel is very important to our members.

The Chamber also has the Wreck 'Em Tech Athletics Breakfast coming up August 21st at the Civic center. The breakfast will feature talks from Coach Kingsbury, Whitley, Stone, and Graystone. The event will allow them to talk about their upcoming seasons, and will be a, "huge way to kick off the football season," McBride said. The breakfast will start at 6:30 and tickets can be purchased by calling 761-7000, or going to lubbockchamber.com.

Finally, the chamber will be holding the Barbecue event October 11th at the fairgrounds. McBride explained that this event should be very big this year, will be easy to get around to get all the food you need, and will have all the things West Texans love: music, BBQ, and libations.
