On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Robin Hawkins, director of Health and Wellness for United Supermarkets, talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about some upcoming health and wellness events.

This Saturday, January 4th, health fairs will be held at all Amigo's locations for 11 AM to 3 PM. The fairs will feature onsite health screenings, such as blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screenings, as well as free flu shots. Hawkins added that the fairs will also help explain the stores NuVal system, a rating system to help shoppers select healthier items. All fairs are free of charge.

United has some other upcoming events to promote health and wellness. The Build a Better Basket Expo will be held January 11th and 12th at all Market Street locations. Hawkins explained that at the expo, shoppers will be able to sample new creations and pick up tips for healthy eating and shopping. United also offers free diabetic and healthy eating tours that shoppers can sign up for online.
