University Medical Center will spread some holiday cheer and help tomorrow. UMC will deliver thousands of food items tomorrow to Lubbock elementary students who might otherwise go without during the Christmas break.

About 200 reusable shopping bags of food will go to Brown, Bean and Jackson elementary schools. UMC employees donated the food during a food drive the past few weeks.

Families who rely on school cafeteria programs to provide meals for their kids can’t do the same during the holidays when schools are closed for the Christmas break. The donations ensure students have adequate nutrition while away from school.

UMC sponsors Brown Elementary through the Partners in Education program. In the past two years, UMC employees have donated food, school supplies and clothing to students. UMC employees also purchased a Christmas tree for students to decorate in the hallway at Brown.
