The Texas Department of Transportation will present details on a new loop later this month at the Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization’s November meeting.

On Friday, November 14, 2014, TxDOT will present the final Lubbock Outer Route Study that has been conducted to determine the fate of a new highway facility that would circle Lubbock from US 84 northwest of Lubbock to US 84 southeast of Lubbock.

The report is the culmination of 15 months of study to determine a preferred route for the new highway. This final report includes traffic, societal and environmental analyses of the route as well as public comments received at multiple previous public hearings.

After conducting a feasibility study that concluded in 2010, TxDOT found a four-lane divided highway a possibility by 2030.

The Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Lubbock City Council chambers.

Details on the Lubbock Outer Route project are available at TxDOT’s website. Let us know what you think about the proposed highway by commenting below.
