The existing northbound I-27 Bridge at the Marsha Sharp Freeway will begin to come down this week, as crews prepare to make new additions to the area.

Beginning Wednesday, TxDOT will close 4th Street at I-27 to begin the demolition of the current bridge, to allow crews to add new bridges at the I-27 and US 82/4th Street interchange, as part of the Phase 4 Marsha Sharp Freeway Project.

Westbound 4th Street traffic will be detoured north onto the I-27 frontage road to Municipal Drive. Eastbound traffic will be detoured south onto the northbound frontage road. These detours are expected to remain in place through Friday, June 24th.

The $47.7 million project will build the freeway main lanes and frontage roads from Avenue L to just east of I-27, as well as the I-27 interchange.
