The Texas Transportation Commission announced the approval of a significant amount of upcoming road work.

A thumbs up was awarded to more than $203 million worth of roadway construction, rehabilitation and restoration projects across the state.

Some 28 new projects were given the green light in total via Proposition 1 funding for the improved safety, mobility and connectivity of the state of Texas.

Projects approved in West Texas include: $12.2 million for work on four separate stretches of US Highway 87 in Howard County, over $18 million for work on US 60 in Hemphill County in the Texas Panhandle, about $4 million for work on I-40 in Gray and Donley counties, $3.1 million for construction on FM 2697 in Wheeler County and $1.79 million for work on FM 369 in Wichita County.

Commissioners have now approved 60 of the proposed 200 Proposition 1 projects.
