Tulia’s city manager has resigned.

According to KVII-TV and ConnectAmarillo.com, Aaron Smith, Tulia city manager accepted a job in another city.

The announcement came from the Tulia City Commission on Tuesday evening.

The meeting was filled with supporters of former Tulia Police Chief Jim McCaslin, who was fired by Smith in May.

McCaslin’s family states that Smith never told the former chief a reason for the firing.

According to KVII, Smith was absent from the Tuesday meeting due to a family emergency, but had taken a new position.
