A new traffic signal is operational in Lubbock as of Thursday, December 11, at 34th Street and Quaker Avenue.

The new flashing yellow-arrow signal will require drivers to yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians while making a left turn.

Previously, a full green light was used to indicate those turning left should yield.

The signal was changed to conform to state regulations set in the Texas Manual of Traffic Control Devices.

The City of Lubbock has announced this is one of many traffic signals to be updated. The updates will continue in January 2015.
