Just a reminder: not every state in the U.S. is as gun-friendly as we are in the South. One Tennessee woman found that out the hard way.

In New York, a tourist was arrested for carrying a gun into the 9/11 Memorial. The woman, who has a full legal carry license in Tennessee, did not realize she could not bring a gun into the memorial and asked a police officer where she could check her gun.

A few moments later, she was under arrest for weapons possession and held on a $2,000 bond. She is due to appear in court on March 19th, and the Manhattan district attorney intends to convict her on felony gun possession, a charge that carries a minimum sentence of 3.5 years.

I'm not familiar with all the gun laws in New York, but I'm pretty sure this is excessive. This woman meant no harm, she was not going go shoot up the memorial or anything like that. But the lesson here is this: if you're traveling out of state and you intend to carry your gun with you, it might be a good idea to check the gun laws for that state so you don't get in trouble like this poor woman.
