A notable television journalist will speak at an area university dinner later this year.

Tom Brokaw will be the next speaker for Lubbock Christian University’s “An Evening With…” benefit dinner.

The benefit dinner will take place on October 3rd, 2013.

“Mr. Brokaw’s life-long career in journalism and his important work on ‘The Greatest Generation’ will be of great interest to our guests,” said LCU President L. Timothy Perrin.

“We believe that his passion for truth seeking and for thinking critically about matters of importance will provide just the right message for the evening,” Perrin continued.

Brokaw began in 1966 with NBC News, and he has won every major professional award in his industry.

The event will be the fourth benefit dinner for the university featuring a nationally known speaker. The series was introduced in 2007 with General Colin Powell, and has also hosted President George W. Bush in 2009, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in 2011.

The benefit dinners raise funds for student scholarships.
