Time Magazine Uses Shock Cover Photo in Search of Relevance [NSFW]

Time

The latest issue of Time Magazine is stirring up the internet with its latest cover photo. The photo featured above doesn’t require explanation why this is causing a stir. The article itself deals with the issue of attachment parenting, but I doubt the substance of the article will be discussed on news programs. The photo itself reminds me of an internet meme about people being breast fed too long, but I will leave those great Wonka memes to reddit.

The mother pictured, Jamie Lynne Grumet, was one of three women featured in the story who ascribe to the parenting philosophy. They were shot by photographer Martin Schoeller and according to Schoeller, the age of the children he photographed made for a nontraditional photo shoot.

“When you think of breastfeeding, you think of mothers holding their children, which was impossible with some of these older kids,” Schoeller said. “I liked the idea of having the kids standing up to underline the point that this was an uncommon situation.”

What do you think of the photo? Leave us your feedback in our comments section of the story.
