Right now is the perfect time to go on one last late-summer trip before fall really settles in, according to AAA Texas.

They report gas prices are continuing to fall due to crude prices remaining low when compared to last year. Texas’ average for a gallon of unleaded gas is currently $2.07, or $1.11 less than this time last year.

“As gas prices continue to remain low and weather in Texas stays mild, many families are taking advantage of weekend travel.” said AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe.  “Destination football games and weekend school activities are keeping the public active this season.”

The national average sits around $2.30. Texas ranges from a low around $1.80 in Lubbock and Amarillo to a high of $2.30 in El Paso.
