Thunderstorms are forecast today for the South Plains and Texas Panhandle for Friday, May 24th going into the Memorial Day weekend.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop across the South Plains this afternoon with humid air entering the area to help create the storms, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs forecast for the area are expected to be in the mid to high 80’s.

Yesterday saw the first tornado events for the South Plains this severe weather season with tornadoes touching down in the Eastern South Plains.
