Lubbock ISD has nearly doubled the number of students commended for their performance on a preliminary test.

30 LISD students have been named National Merit Commended Students, based upon their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, or PSAT.

These students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT.

Commended students from Coronado are Allen Carswell, Landon Collier, Jake Donaho, Kourtney Kouth, Ethan Morman, and Kyle Wolfe.

Commended students from Lubbock High are Ellen Airhart, Audrey Allen, Joseph Bowman, Andrew Cook, Cody Farmer, Elyssa Foshee, John Michael Frullo, Esther Han, Lindsey Henderson, Shalini Jayawickrama, David Kelly, Laura Liu, Jane Mahan, Ralph Molina, Jake Moore, Anna Marie Pratas, Allyson Sadegur, Priyanka Shome, Zachary Winders and Jun “David” Yan.

The commended students from Monterey High School are Matthew Frosoni, Trevor Roberts, Sheridan Treadwell, and Jett Watson.

Last year, 17 LISD students qualified as National Merit Commended Students.
