The Texas Tech Special Teams know what it’s like to not live up to expectations. To feel like nothing that they do will ever be good enough. They know what it's like to be afraid.

In College football, though, no matter how bad things get, something good is out there, over the horizon and with great power comes great responsibility. Because it’s not who they are underneath, but what they do that defines them.

We know what the 2017 Texas Tech special teams did on the field, but sometimes the truth isn’t good enough. Sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.

2018 is the year Texas Tech Special teams can reward Red Raider fans for their faith.

Alfred describes the Texas Tech special teams situation succinctly: "Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up."

In all seriousness, I like that Adam Scheier is setting the special teams apart and making it seem legit. There are three sides to a successful football team. Too often at Texas Tech, it's just been the offense. Now, David Gibbs has revitalized the defense, and Scheier is dropping dedicated Twitter accounts and hype videos for his special teams units.

Be ready, Big 12 -- somebody ripped the 'Q' section out of the Texas Tech special teams dictionary, because they don't know the meaning of the word 'quit.'
