The New Big Tex is Unveiled at the State Fair of Texas

@Fairpark, Twitter

Less than a year after its predecessor was destroyed in an electrical fire, the State Fair of Texas unveiled the new version of Big Tex on Thursday.

The unveiling was pushed ahead a day due to high winds in Dallas causing a safety hazard with the canvas hiding Big Tex from public view.

The new Big Tex’s shirt and blue jeans are from Dickies and boots from Lucchese. Sizes for Big Tex’s new hat, belt buckle and boots weren’t released by the State Fair on Thursday. The previous version of Big Tex featured a 75-gallon hat, 50-pound belt buckle and size 70 boots.

This year’s State Fair of Texas runs from September 27- October 20.
