President Obama and other Democrats frequently talk about inheriting a bad economy back in 2009.  However, when it comes to gas prices, 2009 was the good old days.

At the beginning of that year, when George W. Bush was still president, the average price of gas in Lubbock was $1.44 a gallon, according to a KFYO survey.  The week Obama became president, the price was $1.74 a gallon.  By the end of 2009, the average price was $2.40 a gallon.

A year ago, Lubbock drivers were paying $2.57 a gallon.  Fast forward to the end of July this year.  We were paying an average $3.55 a gallon.

That's twice what we paid when Bush left the White House.
