Unemployment benefits will be available for affected workers in West, Texas.

The Texas Workforce Commission and local partners are responding to the April 17th disaster in West by helping affected workers apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits.

The TWC is also helping those affected register and search for work, and receive other workforce or support services. A job fair for impacted workers will be held there on April 29th and 30th.

The TWC has implemented a Mobile Workforce Unit at the West Knights of Columbus Hall on 2547 Jerry Mashek Road, and staff will help displaced workers, veterans, and residents file for unemployment benefits, look for jobs, register for work online at www.WorkInTexas.com, and prepare résumés.

“Our local workforce boards are coordinating efforts with local government officials, state, and federal agencies to provide these needed services so the citizens of West can begin to rebuild and move on,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Ronny Congleton.

TWC has also established a hotline for individuals affected by the West fertilizer plant explosion at 866-274-1722, or they may apply for benefits online at http://ui.texasworkforce.org.
