A teenager from south Texas has been sentenced to 90 years in prison after being found guilty of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death. A jury in Cameron County deliberated for five hours before deciding on the sentence for Javier de la Rosa Jr. He had pleaded guilty earlier to stabbing Tiffany Galvan 48 times three weeks after the pair broke up.

De la Rosa was tried as an adult even though he was a minor when he committed the murder in 2010. He will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
