Texas Tech’s Raider Red Competing in Final Round of National Contest

Texas Tech’s mascot is in the final round of a national contest.
Raider Red took second place out of 16 mascots in regular season voting, and now goes on to contend for the most votes in the Capital One 2012 Mascot Challenge.
Red now faces first-place Cocky the Gamecock from the University of South Carolina.
The mascot with the most votes will be the Capital One National Mascot of the Year, which will be announced during the 2013 Capital One Bowl on January 1st, 2013.
The winner will bring home a $20,000 scholarship to help fund its school’s mascot program. Each participant will receive a $5,000 scholarship for their mascot program.
Raider Red’s only regular-season loss came in week one against the University of Delaware’s YoUDee, who was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The winner is determined by internet voting, and fans can vote unlimited times at capitalonebowl.com/vote. You can also vote via Twitter by using the hashtag #CapitalOneRaiderRed.
