A Texas Tech scholarship fund chapter has received an award.

The Texas Tech Hispanic Scholarship Fund chapter was recently selected as the first HSF Scholar Chapter of the year.

The chapter was chosen due to its continued outreach initiatives undertaken throughout the year, including college and career fairs, parent workshop presentations, student panel discussions, and recruitment trips.

Tech’s chapter was chosen out of 37 other HSF chapters throughout the nation.

“Having a nationally recognized HSF chapter on our campus will serve as an incentive for high-achieving Hispanic students across the country to attend Texas Tech,” said Juan Munoz, vice president for institutional diversity, equity, and community engagement.

The HSF is supported and funded by Texas Tech’s Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center. The Texas Tech chapter was created in 2008 to help the increasing Latino student population on campus.
