Texas Tech University is set to host their 15th Annual Back to School Fiesta next month.

At the event, students K-12 can enjoy free food, entertainment and school supplies. The first back to school fiesta was held in 2000 with 300 attendees. Now in its 15th year, there are more than 4,000 attendees expected.

The event is hosted by Tech’s Office of Community Engagement along with the Office of the President and Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement.

“Back to School Fiesta is truly an event we look forward to year-round,” said Heather Martinez, director of the Office of Community Engagement. “Empowering students to pursue their education, as well as providing them resources to do just that, are what we are striving for.”

This year’s Back to School Fiesta will be held on August 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tech Student Union Building located at 15th Street and Akron Avenue. Student attendees will receive a backpack filled with school supplies on a first come first serve basis.
