A Texas Tech volleyball player has earned conference honors.

Freshman Emily Ehrle has been named as the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, after leading the Red Raiders with 46 kills over four matches last week.

Ehrle is the third Texas Tech volleyball player to earn a Big 12 weekly award this season.

“It’s a nice sense of respect for Emily’s hard work,” said head coach Don Flora. “She came off the bench last week and really stepped up and delivered a solid performance in a five-set win over Furman.”

Ehrle, a Crowley, Texas native, hit .293 over 14 sets, and set a career-high 23 kills against Furman, marking the first time a Tech player had reached the 20-kill mark this season. Her success against Furman also marked the most kills in a match since Amanda Dowdy recorded 26 last year against New Mexico.

Tech will face off against Houston Baptist, Cal State Northridge, and the Rice Owls at the Rice Invitational this weekend.
