Texas Tech University to Hold Moment of Silence and Ring Bells for Newtown, CT Victims

Rob Snyder, KFYO.com

A local university will ring their bells in a somber moment Friday.

Texas Tech University will ring bells from the Bell Tower to honor the 26 victims of last week’s school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

This is in response from a request Connecticut Governor Daniel Malloy for a national moment of silence. Texas Governor Rick Perry asked the state to join him in the moment of silence and reflecting on 26 victims.

The university bells will ring 26 times, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
