Texas Tech officially became an institution on Feb. 10, 1923.

According to Texas Tech University, the school, originally named Texas Technological College, was created in 1923 but didn't open its doors until two years later:

Originally named Texas Technological College, the college opened in 1925 with six buildings and an enrollment of 914. Graduate instruction did not begin until 1927 within the school of Liberal Arts. A "Division of Graduate Studies" was established in 1935 and eventually became known as the Graduate School in 1954.

Texas Tech has come a long way since then.

In 2015, Texas Tech's fall enrollment stood at 35,893 students, breaking its fall enrollment record for the eighth straight year.

You can see more of how Texas Tech has evolved over the year's at the school's Tumblr page.

Happy birthday, Texas Tech!
