Texas Tech’s track and field teams enter the Big 12 Championships in the top 20.

The Lady Raiders were ranked 17th and the Red Raiders placed 18th in the Week 5 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings.

Tech is one of two Big 12 schools with both men’s and women’s track and field teams ranked in the top 20 entering the Big 12 Championships.

Texas also enters the meet with both teams ranked in the top 20.

Texas Tech collected 14 first place finishes at the Red Raider Open last week, highlighted by a school record performance from sophomore sprinter Cierra White.

Tech will open competition at the 2013 Big 12 Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 3rd at the Hart-Patterson track in Waco.
