The match up is the second time the two squads have ever met. The Red Raiders blanked the Wolfpack 4-0 in the first ever meeting between the two teams 4-0 in 1998.

The Red Raiders are coming off a four-game series sweep over San Francisco while scoring at least nine runs in all four games with a total of 46 runs in the series, while hitting a robust .392.

Junior 1B Eric Gutierrez leads the Tech squad with a .750 batting average and  an on-base –percentage of .842 after reaching base 16 times in 19 at bats against the Dons. Gutierrez was named the Big 12 Conference  Player of the Week for his efforts.

The Wolfpack opened the season with a three-game sweep over Abilene Christian.

Nevada went 31-27 a year ago with a 15-15 record in the Mountain West Conference. Wolf Pack senior first baseman Austin Byler is considered one of the top hitters in the nation and was tabbed a preseason first team All-American. Byler was a ninth-round pick last year by the Washington Nationals.

Freshman Jacob Patterson (0-0 0,00 ERA) will make his first career start for the Red Raiders. The Richardson Berkner product allowed one unearned run giving up three hits and two walks in three innings while striking out one in his collegiate debut against San Francisco.

Tech continues a season-long nine-game homestand which continues through this weekend hosting Northern Illinois (Feb. 20-22) for the Brooks Wallace Memorial Series.

Tech leads the nation with 20 straight home wins (dates back to 2014) -- the third longest streak in TTU history.
