Dr. Scott Longing, an entomologist at the Texas Tech Plant and Soil Sciences Department, joined Lubbock's First News Wednesday (May 13) to talk about how students are currently helping to build an insect hotel at the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden.

"We're simply modifying the habitat, making the habitat more varied," said Longing. "We simply make the habitat more complex to invite different varieties of insects with a goal to house more beneficial insects that will eat eat the pest of the garden."
