A Texas Tech student that was critically injured in a Thursday morning wreck has died.

Jason Chad White is believed to have been driving while intoxicated, and was reportedly driving at high speed on Glenna Goodacre Blvd. around 12 a.m. Thursday.

The 19-year-old White reportedly crashed into a vehicle containing 19-year-olds Meagan Rough and driver Caitlin Canaday.

Rough, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was ejected from the car even though she was wearing a seat belt.

The pickup White was driving also hit another parked vehicle and a parked Lubbock Police cruiser, which was then pushed into a parked car.

Rough was taken to University Medical Center, where she died around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Canaday and another person were also taken to area hospitals.

White was arrested following the incident and was charged with two counts of intoxication assault. He posted bond late Thursday evening.

Since Rough has died from her injuries, one of the charges has been upgraded to intoxication manslaughter.
