A Texas Tech student once thought to be paralyzed from the waist down following a fall from a third-story balcony is improving.

19-year-old Maci Bell crushed a vertebra after landing on her neck during the recent fall, according to CBS 7 News of Odessa.

The sophomore from Odessa was originally told that she would not walk again following the fall, but movement in her leg and feet may prove otherwise.

Updates on Maci’s condition provided from family on a Facebook account say that she has been able to move all of the toes on her right foot, and is improving in the use of her arms and legs. It seems possible that she will be moved to a hospital in Colorado to continue treatment.

A benefit concert for Maci Bell has been organized at J&B Coffee in Lubbock on Friday, April 27th from 6 to 11 p.m. J&B Coffee is located at the corner of 26th Street and Boston Avenue, and entrance is a $5 donation.

A benefit account has also been set up at Complex Community Federal Credit Union in Odessa called the Maci Bell Benefit Fund.

More information on Maci’s progress will be posted on the Facebook page run by her family, which is available by clicking here.
